Founded in 1874, The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (The NYSPCC) is the first child protection agency in the world. The NYSPCC’s founders wrote the basic tenets of child protection laws in the United States. Today, The NYSPCC remains dedicated to reducing the incidences and impacts of child abuse and neglect through prevention programs that improve the safety of children and intervention programs that help children and families heal. The NYSPCC is at a pivotal moment in its history. After 21 years of sustained executive leadership, the agency is poised to enhance its presence and impact, increase its programs and clinical services, and expand philanthropic funding.

The NYSPCC seeks a visionary and innovative President and Chief Executive Officer (President and CEO). The successful President and CEO will partner with the Board of Directors and staff to design and lead the execution of a comprehensive three- to five-year strategic and operational plan for The NYSPCC. The ideal candidate will determine the approach and timeline for implementation. S/he will oversee the agency’s fundraising, communications, public relations, clinical services, programs, and research programs while leading staff to support and maintain a collegial environment of compassion, teamwork, support, and accountability.

The President and CEO will serve as the agency’s chief spokesperson and advocate. The ideal candidate will be an active and visible thought leader in the child welfare community with a demonstrated knowledge of the child welfare system. As a leading advocate for child welfare, s/he will stay informed on cutting-edge news and trends, partner with legislators and leaders in the community, and help set the agenda for child welfare to ensure that The NYSPCC meets children’s evolving needs.

The President and CEO will partner with the Board of Directors and Director of Development and Communications to lead, build, and oversee a robust fundraising program. S/he will strengthen long-term financial sustainability, enhance brand recognition to increase and diversify sources of support, and consistently and effectively engage constituents to promote ongoing support.

The President and CEO will report to the Board of Directors and be accountable to the Executive Committee. S/he will lead a team of approximately six direct reports with oversight of a team of 33 professionals. The President and CEO will lead the Senior Management Team.

The compensation and benefits package will be competitive and commensurate with the successful candidate’s background and experience. The compensation range for the position is $250,000 to $300,000. For extraordinary candidates, The NYSPCC might consider higher levels of compensation.

Clinical

The NYSPCC is currently looking for applicants for the following role:

Bilingual Parent/Child Therapist (LMSW, LMHC, LCSW)

Bilingual Parent/Child Therapist

The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (The NYSPCC) seeks a motivated, devoted professional with strong clinical and organizational skills to serve as a Bilingual Parent/Child Therapist. The position is full-time Sunday through Thursday and includes two evenings (12-8pm) to accommodate participant schedules. The position will involve a hybrid of in-person and remote work.

The Parent Therapist will play an important role in providing supportive counseling to children and parents participating in our Trauma Recovery and Therapeutic Supervised Visitation Program (TSVP).

Responsibilities:

•Provide individual and group counseling to parents in our Trauma Recovery and TSVP programs.

•Provide individual therapy to children impacted by trauma.

•Work collaboratively with clinical team members to support families impacted by trauma and violence.

Qualifications:

•LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or equivalent and New York State licensure required

•Fluency in Spanish required

•Commitment to social justice and strong communication skills required

•A minimum of two years of experience working with high-conflict families with histories of trauma and an understanding of the complexities of domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, mental health and substance abuse issues preferred

Salary: $72.5K commensurate with experience.

Research and Evaluation

The NYSPCC is currently looking for applicants for the following role:

Research and Implementation Specialist

Research and Implementation Specialist

The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC) is currently seeking an experienced professional to serve as a full–time Research and Implementation Specialist. In collaboration with the Research and Evaluation Department, the Specialist will be responsible for implementing, evaluating, and managing funded research projects in the domains of child sexual abuse prevention and victim support programs. Under supervision of the Research Director, this position will participate in all phases of the implementation process, from planning, execution, and monitoring, through analysis, interpretation and reporting of findings. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning and initiation of projects, formulation of program relevant research hypotheses, extracting, preparing and analyzing data to address research questions and federal reporting requirements, developing data collection instruments, survey tools, and analysis plans for research initiatives, and assisting in the development and production of performance monitoring reports and publications.

Responsibilities:

•Organize and manage funded projects using established protocols; ability to design new protocols

•Conceptualize and independently manage data tracking systems and program fidelity monitoring

•Provide data quality assurance, statistical analysis of longitudinal, comparative and cross-sectional data

•Develop and prepare reports of status, progress, and outcomes of evaluation activities

•Collaborate on development and drafting manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals

•Create accessible, public facing data briefs for use in media and web dissemination

•Assist in writing proposals as necessary to continue or initiate research and special projects

Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have a background in applied research, evaluation, social or implementation science. Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to complete high quality work independently as well as be a contributing member of a team. The candidate should have postdoctoral or equivalent experience, in addition to:

•Master’s degree or doctorate in social science (ex. Psychology), public health, statistics, social work, or related field.

•3+ years of demonstrated research project design and implementation experience

•Record of peer reviewed publications

•Grant writing experience and/or funding track record

•Excellent analytical skills and expertise in data management and analysis software (SPSS, Stata, etc.)

•The ability to lead projects from planning to completion

•A commitment to affecting change through empirical research

•Knowledge of and contribution to the fields of complex trauma, child sexual abuse, supervised visitation, or related evidence-based interventions

•Ability to work independently, generate ideas, meet deadlines and produce high quality work

Salary: $80K-$85K commensurate with experience.
