Legal Rights and Responsibilities of Fathers in NYS (March 16, 2022)

Every child served in the child welfare system must have every parent identified.  This training will allow child welfare staff to determine the legal definitions and responsibilities of men who are possible fathers to a child.  NYS has a complicated system of definitions and of responsibilities and the goal of this training will be to break this down into easily understood information that can be used in daily practice.  Once child welfare staff incorporate this information into their work, they will be able to identify additional familial resources for each child with whom they work, yielding best practices.
