Child sexual abuse is a widespread, public health problem. Children with disabilities are uniquely at risk and two to four times more likely to be sexually abused than children without disabilities. It is important to note the significant rise in children diagnosed with autism, now affecting one in 36 eight-year-olds. Although there has been greater awareness of the importance of sexual abuse prevention education targeting children, programming tailored to the specific learning needs of children who are neurodivergent has not been developed or tested. This training will present the development and implementation of a pilot project to provide child sexual abuse prevention education to children with autism in New York City public elementary schools. This training will present lessons learned from the pilot project which reached over 350 children, and next steps for dissemination.
