Ways to Give

There are many meaningful ways to support NYSPCC and help ensure children and families have access to the care and resources they need. Whether you choose to give online, by mail, through your financial advisor, or as part of a long-term plan, your generosity makes a lasting impact.

Donate by Credit Card

Donate by Check

We gratefully accept donations by check.

If your gift is in honor or memory of someone, or if you’d like your donation directed toward a specific purpose, please include a note with your check or email development@nyspcc.org so we can ensure your gift is recognized as intended.

Donor-Advised-Funds (DAFs)

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a convenient, flexible way to support NYSPCC and make a lasting impact for children and families. If you already have a DAF, you can recommend a grant to the NYSPCC directly from your fund.

Benefits of giving through a DAF:

  • Tax Efficiency: Contributions to your DAF are tax-deductible in the year they are made.
  • Simplicity: Your fund sponsor handles administrative tasks like record-keeping and grant disbursement.
  • Flexibility: You can recommend grants to NYSPCC at a time that aligns with your charitable goals.
  • Legacy Giving: DAFs are a great way to involve your family in philanthropy and support the causes you care about over time.

To recommend a gift from your DAF, simply contact your sponsoring organization and provide the following information:

  • Legal Name: The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
  • Tax ID: 13-1624132
  • Mailing Address: 520 8th Ave, Suite 1401, New York, NY 10018
  • Email for Notification: development@nyspcc.org

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

If you are 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a tax-free gift directly from your IRA to NYSPCC through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

A QCD allows you to transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from a traditional IRA to a qualified nonprofit like the NYSPCC. This gift counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) and is excluded from your taxable income.

This type of gift may be right for you if:

  • You are 70½ or older and have a traditional IRA.
  • You are required to take a minimum distribution but do not need the income.
  • You want to make a tax-smart gift that supports NYSPCC’s mission.

To initiate a QCD or for more information, please contact us.

Gifts of Stock

Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds is a simple and tax-efficient way to support NYSPCC’s work.

How it works:

  • You transfer your securities directly to the NYSPCC. In most cases, if you’ve held the assets for more than one year, you may be eligible to receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value and avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated amount.
  • Once received, the NYSPCC will sell the securities and use the proceeds to support our programs and services.

This type of gift may be right for you if:

  • You’re holding securities that have increased significantly in value.
  • You want to make a meaningful gift while reducing your income tax and capital gains exposure.

For transfer instructions or additional information, please contact us at development@nyspcc.org.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts

A gift in memory of a loved one is a meaningful way to honor their life and legacy while supporting children and families in need.

Losing someone dear is never easy, but your gift can help create hope and healing for others in their name. We are deeply grateful when families choose to honor someone’s memory through a contribution to the NYSPCC.

To make a donation in memory or in honor of someone special, please click here or contact us at development@nyspcc.org. When making your gift, please contact us to let us know about your wishes. We would be glad to speak with you about meaningful and appropriate ways to recognize your generosity.

Planned Giving

There are many thoughtful ways to create a lasting impact through planned giving. You can include NYSPCC in your will or trust, donate appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, or name NYSPCC as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or retirement account.

We also welcome more complex gifts, such as charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder trusts, and donations of real estate. Our team is happy to speak with you about the options that best align with your personal and philanthropic goals.

For more information, please contact us at development@nyspcc.org.

In-Kind Donations & Drives

In addition to financial contributions, we gratefully accept donations of new, unopened items that directly support the children and families we serve. Commonly needed items include hygiene products, school supplies, books, art materials, toys (especially for children ages 4 to 12), and seasonal essentials like winter coats.

We also welcome support from individuals or organizations interested in coordinating donation drives, especially around the holidays or back-to-school season.

To discuss current needs or arrange an in-kind donation, please contact us at development@nyspcc.org
